Welcome to The Joyful Home!
I’m Michele, a small-town Texas girl living and raising my family in the big city of Dallas. I’ve spent the last twelve years trying to create a joyful home.
It started not long after I married my college sweetheart, just two weeks after graduating from law school. My mister and I lived in a tiny apartment, and while he spent his days at work, I studied for the bar exam and started learning how to make a home. Call me old-fashioned, but I had a deep desire to create a welcoming environment for our little newlywed selves, one that was lovely and warm and where we could bless others with hospitality.
That tiny apartment was where The Joyful Home was born, even though I didn’t start blogging about it until ten years later. During those years, we moved a few times, eventually ending up in our “forever home.” We were also blessed with three precious babies. I spent many years working full-time in private law practice before trading in my suits for full-time motherhood.
Through the years, I’ve learned so much about what makes a joyful home. For me, it’s about family, good food, and gracious living. I long to create a home that my kids will want to return to when they’re grown with families of their own; a home that my family and friends enjoy visiting; a home that welcomes me and my brood at the end of each day.
I created The Joyful Home to provide inspiration and ideas for making women’s lives easier and their homes more joyful. Here you’ll find delicious and easy recipes (all taste-tested and approved by my crew), decorating and entertaining tips, and plenty of style inspiration and gift ideas.
So, grab yourself a cup of coffee (or tea, if you prefer) and take a look around. You’ll find my most recent content, along with my most popular posts on the sidebar or bottom of the page.

I’d also love to connect with you through any of these:
