I must confess. I’m so ready for fall y’all. We got a little glimpse of cooler weather this weekend, but then this week has been as hot and steamy as mid-summer. I’m over it. Bring on the crisp air, the leaves, the pumpkins, the coziness, and the yummy fall food (like this Salted Caramel Apple Tart).
For now, my house is staying as it is. I’d love to buy a carload of pumpkins and put together gorgeous fall arrangements, but if I do, they’ll be icky and wilted much too soon. For now, I’ve been perusing fall home tours and pinning up a storm. My wheels are turning, and I’m loving all of this fall inspiration.
I’ve fallen in love with everything by Bree of ZDesign At Home, but her fall home tour is seriously gorgeous. Like picking-my-jaw-off-the-floor gorgeous. Her take on fall with the whites and purples and greens is so fresh and unique. And can we talk about that gold bamboo lamp? When I was in Houston visiting my sis this summer, we found a pair of these in navy blue at Homegoods. I’m now regretting that I let her have them, but I knew that coming home with four new lamps wouldn’t make the mister very happy.
White pumpkins make me very happy. Amy at Crazy Chic Design used them all over her house, and now I’ll be hunt for similar ones with long stems.
I am a sucker for Moscow mules and use my copper mugs pretty frequently (only on weekends- and really stressful weeks). I’ve never thought about using them for anything but drinks, but don’t they make perfect containers for fall flower arrangements? Cassie at Hi Sugarplum is super spunky and clever, and I’m constantly inspired by her colorful home.
Tamara at Citrine Living has a gorgeous home, and I like how she transformed her blue and white pieces with simple wheat stalks. The arrangement in her dining room is a show stopper–so smart to use pears, figs and grapes in the decor. The gold leaves remind me of the ones I spray painted and used as place cards a couple of years ago.
As I’m developing my own style (and getting older), I’m definitely a “less is more” person. Courtney from A Thoughtful Place embraces this, as well, and her simple fall decor is right up my alley. A cozy neutral plaid throw on the back of a chair, pretty eucalyptus leaves and fruit on the table, and a pitcher of white hydrangeas–all perfect.
How’s that for fall inspiration? I’m not ready to take the plunge yet, but I’m going to spend some time this weekend editing and purging and getting ready for the new season. And then maybe that will trigger the Texas heat to go away, kind of like washing your car to make it rain…
